This is for California residents only. I know online petitions are not that useful, but I feel I have to do SOMETHING.

Please forward to friends/family if you do not currently reside in CA.

This election has proven both how far we've come regarding civil rights in this country, and how far we still have to go.

I think I'd rather be called sweetie than c**t. But, hey, that is just me.

I remember the waitresses at THE MAJESTIC in Atlanta used to call me "precious" (though through tight lips reminding me of the cellophane over my month-old frozen leftovers). I call just about every person (men & women) "sweetie." Sometimes I talk to adults like I talk to my kids. I thought it was endearing and personable. I guess I need to stop?

"Desert Storm II would be in a walk in the park... The case for 'regime change' boils down to the huge benefits and modest costs of liberating Iraq."

- Kenneth Adelman, member of the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board, 8/29/02

"Having defeated and then occupied Iraq, democratizing the country should not be too tall an order for the world's sole superpower."
- William Kristol, Weekly Standard editor, and Lawrence F. Kaplan, New Republic senior editor, 2/24/03

"The idea that it would take several hundred thousand U.S. forces, I think, is far from the mark."
- Donald H. Rumsfeld, U.S. Secretary of Defense, 2/27/03

"Iraq is a very wealthy country. Enormous oil reserves. They can finance, largely finance the reconstruction of their own country. And I have no doubt that they will."
- Richard Perle, Chairman of the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board, 7/11/02

"Now, it isn't going to be over in 24 hours, but it isn't going to be months either."
- Richard Perle, Chairman of the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board, 7/11/02

"I think it will go relatively quickly...weeks rather than months."
- Vice President Dick Cheney, 3/16/03

"I will bet you the best dinner in the gaslight district of San Diego that military action will not last more than a week. Are you willing to take that wager?"
- Bill O'Reilly, 1/29/03

"Thank you all very much. Admiral Kelly, Captain Card, officers and sailors of the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln, my fellow Americans: Major combat operations in Iraq have ended."
- George W. Bush 1/2/03

Olbermann Timeline: How The Bush Administration Exploited Terror Threats For Political Gain, 2002-2008
"In case you missed it, on Thursday night's "Countdown" Keith Olbermann presented an impressively detailed timeline he called "The Nexus of Politics and Terror," in which he chronicled the Bush administration's exploitation of terror threats for political gain. Olbermann's exhaustive account weaves from each revelation of an intelligence failure or a Democratic political victory to an almost immediate orange alert or "new threat" from al Qaeda.

The clip is 17 minutes long and entirely worth it, and its conclusion — "what we were told about terror, and not told, for security reasons, has overlapped considerably with what we were told about terror, and not told, for political reasons" — is a dutiful summary of the past six years." -Huffington Post

When the President Talks to God

If you have somehow bypassed my profile "Warning to the Stuffy" and feel you have suffered great emotional distress from this song/post or any of my political posts in general, please send your snail mail address to saladbar at livejournal dot com and I will send you something. Keep in mind that I am several months behind on many art and photo memes and generally do not have a lot of time to play inbetween my many motherly duties and sometimes job duties thus payment for your suffering will take some time, maybe years.

but of course in size 6 T-shirt, not onesie! She said she'd wear it. I can't order one for me because 1) no adult sizes, I might be able to sqeeeeeze into a bigger child size (because I'm so flat chested) but 6T is their largest size! and 2) My mom is for Hillary Clinton. Oh well.
