Re-open Proposition 8 for California
This is for California residents only. I know online petitions are not that useful, but I feel I have to do SOMETHING.

Please forward to friends/family if you do not currently reside in CA.

This election has proven both how far we've come regarding civil rights in this country, and how far we still have to go.

There is high support (70%) from african americans for prop 8. They overwhelmingly vote for Obama, but then they vote against gay marriage overwhelmingly. And the Latinos likewise are more conservative on this issue too. It almost seems like a double standard.

yeah, dood. lots of folks are "blaming" L.A. for voting red on this issue.
the misinformation really did it's job, and the no campaign spent too much time petitioning the reason and higher ideals of the population (only to find out those things are lacking, en masse).

and it IS a double standard. a huge one. but things will change, as they always have, and as they continue to do.

The younger populations overwhelming did not support the proposition, so, at the very least, there is hope for the future.

yeah... support dropped ten percent in 8 years (prop 22 to now), and i really think it's because of all the folks aging up and voting. in another four years, all the kids in high school now will be voting, and maybe we can push it down another few percent.
